CO Wild Trout maps more than 1,300 locations in Colorado for native cutthroat and wild trout, and converts your compatible iPhone or iPad into a robust mapping GPS* you can take into the field. Shows every stream and lake in the state known to support a cutthroat population, often with details about abundance, habitat quality, and genetic purity. Data is consolidated from a variety of sources, in particular the range-wide status reports for Rio Grande, Greenback, and Colorado River Cutthroats funded under the Endangered Species Act. Additional data comes from federal, state, and other authoritative sources, integrated into an easy-to-use and powerful map-centered application.

View more than 1,000 stream segments and 300 lakes supporting native and wild trout across the state, including comprehensive coverage of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Provides USGS topo map backgrounds for for the entire continental US (plus road maps and satellite imagery)

Search by location name, or by the closest locations supporting native cutthroat species plus wild brown, rainbow, and brook trout populations

Provides elevation, stream gradient, and public land ownership, plus water quality, habitat quality, and historic wildfire activity for most streams

Alerts you to locations with special CDOW regulations

Identify public access points on Gold Medal streams, plus hundreds of other spots that are less known (and probably less crowded)

Use your IOS device as a wilderness GPS, with the topo map background cached and available even in places where there’s no data signal*

Find the bearing and distance to your target destination in the field, converting your iPhone or iPad to a GPS-driven compass*

Set waypoints, and keep fishing notes automatically stamped with GPS location*, date, and time

Calculate directions and navigate automatically to road-accessible streams, as well as to waypoints you determine as trailheads for more remote fishing locations

Find the closest fly shop, or locate fishing guides who specialize in the area you’re searching

*Note: These features require a GPS chip in your IOS device. This includes iPhone 4S, 5, 5c, 5S, and 6, plus recent iPads equipped for cellular data reception (iPad 2, Mini, Retina, Air, and Mini with retina display). Note that WiFi-only iPads do not currently support GPS operation, although all other features of the app are supported. These devices do support wi-fi based location services, so route finding may work while you are connected to a wifi network.
